Status:  Full Time/ Non-Exempt

Reports to: Agronomy Branch Manager

Summary:  Responsible to assist Manager and team in all tasks related to location, including but not limited to, daily plant operations, supervision of equipment functionality and fleet maintenance, and assisting in the supervision of employee group. Will also build positive customer relationships through the consistent and excellent service of equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure equipment is maintained properly and ready for use at all times.
  • Maintain up to date records of equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Keep fleet trucks in compliance with all DOT regulations.
  • Have a working relationship and open communication with suppliers to maintain necessary parts in stock for efficient and timely repairs, ensuring limited downtime.
  • Maintain knowledge of location personnel and what tasks are being completed.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive, productive and safe working environment.
  • Assure that outside facilities are organized, clean, safe and professional in appearance.
  • Will oversee and operate plant facilities including the shop, dry fertilizer barn and chemical shed.
  • Will maintain availability to cover “on farm” service calls, even during off hours/days.

Supervisory Responsibilities   This job has supervisory responsibilities typically required to complete tasks.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver’s license. Proficiency in accounting and industry software or possess ability to learn.  Obtain CDL as required with endorsements, within 90 days of employment.

Other Skills and Abilities

Voluntary training in providing first aid and CPR.

Work Environment The characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
